Hi Rue. Can't say that I remember you blowing chunks. Goodness I sure appreciate the story of having worked so hard to get to enter the comp. at Vela. though. Hearing these stories deepens my appreciation even more of all you all did and are doing to live your love.

No Doubt, fortunately, people that knew me, knew that I was having an "Off Day" and nobody really held it against me. Good Times All the same.

I think most of us have had runs like that Rue, where you're just praying for the emcee to say "times up" to end the agony!

I was kinda poor BITD, so I didn't compete all that often. But I do remember working a job for about a month so I could pay the $50 entry fee @ the velodrome. Then I totally blew chunks during my run, I was so nervous, I think I pulled 1-2 tricks out of my entire run. I also remember throwing my bike after my run, because I sucked so hard in front of everyone. I still had a really good time though, And yeah, watching the pro finals was the "High-Light" of the day.

Ohhhh...I had never heard that story. Lots of stuff like that went on at that 1988 Masters Comp. Someone took a drap in all the soda machine drops at the Holiday Inn Host Hotel...police helicopters circling overhead the hotel. Ron Wilkerson claiming that some put glass in his frozen Margarita...and more. STILL TOO MUCH FUN THOUGH! :)

I think it was the OH comp in 88 when, I believe it was Rick Thorne, threw that rock across the parking lot and hit some guys girlfriend in the head. Obviously, the whole evening fell apart after that with people getting chased around and what not. I'm sure the cops were involved somewhere down the line...

Yeah...I remember the Volodrome Comp. like it was yesturday. Definitely one of my favorites. I think it may have been the last big national competition. Actually I think it was a festival like event sponored mainly by SOCKO. They wer a Gatoraide knock off...

In 1988, we (me, my day, Dave Kramer and his dad) went out to Carson City California to ride at the AFA comp in the famous velodrome. The spot was legendary. Every rider imaginable was there from all the big name pros to the up and comers. I was in heaven! We had a really cool jam session the night before down some dark alleyway between some storage garages and it was intense. As Dave and I were riding our bikes back to the hotel after the jam, we almost got jumped because we strolled through the wrong neighborhood. Lesson learned! I remember this comp vividly but the highlights, for me, were watching Dennis McCoy and Eddie Fiola perform about 100 feet away from me. Great contest Randy!
